Some recruiters just plain suck? They often times create bad experiences for job seekers. There’s no question about that.
I often hear from job seekers about their bad interactions with recruiters. It irks me to no end because it doesn’t take much to do the right thing and create a great experience for a job applicant. While I don’t like to make excuses for bad recruiters, it has a large impact on the industry and I thought it would be good to provide some insight into why their skills fall short. In the end, managers and other recruiters need to mentor and coach the recruiters that may lack the skills and experience to be awesome.
Many great recruiters get very little recognition. Some candidates may think “well, that’s what they’re supposed to do” which is not entirely wrong. However, a bad experience with a recruiter could lead to informing tons of people, especially if you consider the audience someone may have on social media. Do you have a story about having a great experience with a recruiter? What made it so great? What was their name? Lets call out those recruiting rock stars!
