You’re leaving the organization. There’s the exit interview. How do you handle it? I field a listener email and address this.
The exit interview is typically conducted by human resources when you voluntarily leave an organization. It is hard to say if you leave constructive feedback or not. There are two arguments in the industry. One, don’t say anything unless you have something good to say. The other argument is to provide the feedback in hopes that your feedback will help influence the organization in a positive manner. It depends on what approach you feel most comfortable, but it is important that you be professional. Leave out emotion from your feedback, if you choose to convey your feedback. If you go in with a chip on your shoulder you risk burning bridges and it won’t do anyone any good.
