004 Candidate Withdraws

Michael, a listener of the show, wants to know how to handle a candidate that withdraws from consideration of an opportunity or declines your offer.

There’s no way around it, Recruiters deal with a product that can say ‘no’. The reasons may vary. Some job seekers provide and explanation and others may not want to go into details. What is a recruiter to do? There is no way to prevent a candidate from
withdrawing from your job opening, or declining your offer, but you can ask some probing questions that will help mitigate the risk of losing them.

As a recruiter, what methods do you use to prevent losing a highly qualified candidate?
